Our Banana plants add an instant exotic touch of tropical to your home. Made popular by their bold paddle-shaped leaves, these plants are perfect for beginners and are easy to grow. Potted up in your home this plant will sit happily in a bright sun-filled spot. Although this variety will produce lovely bananas in the wild unfortunately it is unlikely it will bear fruit in your home, sorry! When new growth appears leaves will emerge from the centre and slowly unfurl with great effect. This plant is also great for cleaning the air in your home, what is not to love about this handsome beast?
Origin: The tropics of Australia and South East Asia.
Height/Growth: A fast grower, quickly reaching 2 metres in height.
Light: Enjoys a sunny position with a few hours of direct sunlight a day.
Watering: Keep the soil moist but do not let the roots sit in water as they will rot. Enjoys a light misting.
Temperature: This plant likes to be warm, do not leave outside in the winter or near a draft.
Feeding: Fertilise me slightly every fortnight during Spring and sumer and once a month throughout the rest of the year.
Grooming: A small amount of grooming is required but take care when handling the leaves which are delicate and prone to tearing
Care: Do not leave in wind if outside as the leaves can tear easily.
Toxicity: Pet friendly.
Fact: If the leaves are showing hard water stains gently bath them with lemon juice and water.
