5 Tips to Reduce Stress in 2022

Did you know that 7% of the British population feels stressed every day? Even more shocking, 1 in 5 people have more days in the month where they feel stressed than days where they don’t!

Looking at that, there’s no doubt that our country has a problem with feeling overwhelmed. If you’re worried about stress affecting your life, we’ve put together our top five tips to keep you calm in 2022.

1. Know Any Avoidable Triggers

A great way to spot what makes you stressed is to keep a journal. Every time you notice you’re feeling overwhelmed, write it down and note the situation you’re in. Pretty soon, you should be able to notice a patterns in what triggers you. If some of the triggers are avoidable, like rushing to get ready when you could get up twenty minutes earlier, you can start changing your behaviour to reduce stress.

2. Sip a Mug of Green Tea

This might sound crazy, but green tea could do a lot to calm you down! Natural green tea contains copious amounts of L-theanine, an ingredient that’s been known to reduce stress levels. The next time you’re feeling overwhelmed and angry, take some time out to make a steaming cup of green tea and see if it helps you.

3. Add Plants to Your Home and Office

Houseplants are well known for their mood-boosting, stress-reducing effects. If you can add some greenery into spaces where you often feel stressed, such as your office, as well as areas you relax in, you might find yourself better able to deal with difficult situations. Take a look at our houseplant range in Henley to create a calming jungle of your own.

4. Write Down the Positives

When you’re stressed, it's common to experience tunnel vision and focus only on the negatives. Take a minute out to sit down and write out some positive thoughts, be it about the day you're having or your life in general. Reminding yourself of all the good things you can look forward to and enjoy is a fantastic way to put stressful situations in perspective!

5. Declutter and Invest in Relaxing Homeware

Your home should be a space where you feel comfortable, calm, and relaxed. But if it’s messy you’re not going to be any of those things. Declutter your home this spring and give yourself room to breathe. Once you’ve decluttered, invest in a few relaxing homewares to create a welcoming environment you can come home to. We recommend a plant wax candle, like the Wild & Rust Botanical Candle, fragranced with jasmine, clary sage, vanilla, and rosewood.
